What you need to know about the Citizenship DNA Testing Process:

How the DNA Sample Collection process works:

Getting started with the immigration DNA testing process may seem confusing but we simplify the process for our clients. Below is a detailed list of what will be needed to begin and what you can expect from this process.

1. The petitioner must have received some form of correspondence (letter or email) from either USCIS, U.S. Embassy, or a Passport Agency providing your family an opportunity to submit additional evidence to provide proof of your claimed biological relationship. An example of the type of letter you may receive from immigration is I-130 Request for Evidence letter.

2. Upon receipt of your request please contact our office and allow one of our Relationship testing consultants the opportunity to assist you with coordinating your sample collection appointment and guiding you through the entire relationship testing process.

3. Once the petitioner samples have been collected. The laboratory will be responsible for shipping a Genetic Sample Collection request and test kit to your home country. Assuming the beneficiary is abroad. The turnaround time for international Relationship testing on average is 6-8 weeks, sometimes longer.

Families that are going through this process and reside here in the United States. The domestic Genetic testing process has a much faster turnaround time of 2-3 business days from the date on which all of the samples arrive at the laboratory.

4. Once all the samples have been received by the lab. The genetic testing process of your samples will begin. As stated earlier, the turnaround time for your result to be completed is 2-3 business days.

5. Upon completion of your samples being tested. Someone from our office will notify you that your result has been completed. A copy will be sent to the requesting immigration office directly from the laboratory and, A copy will be sent directly from your home, office, or anywhere you deem private. Method of DNA Sample Collection

The common method today used to collect your DNA samples is by buccal swab. Families that prefer blood samples to be used are still an option. Please note, Using blood to perform a DNA test will come with increased costs for just about the same accuracy. Accuracy of your Relationship Test Result

Consular/USCIS officers accept Paternity and Maternity test results that are 99.99% and higher. It is important for you to note that the Consular officers are well aware that buccal swab samples and blood sample carry the same accuracy.

When testing a distant relative such as a sibling with a sibling according to USCIS they will accept relationship results for Full Siblings and Half Sibling DNA tests that are 90% and higher.
