Can my doctor do a DNA test for me?

Yes. But there are specific circumstances where your doctor may collect your DNA samples for you. One, Ask your doctor if he or she provides genetic sample collection services. In the event, your doctor says no. Ask your doctor if they would be willing to collect your genetic samples if the laboratory or relationship testing company is willing to ship the DNA kit directly to your doctor’s office. Remember, the collection of genetic samples is not something that most Doctors perform in their practice.

Another way that a doctor may collect your samples is if you are performing a Parentage test for immigration purposes. In this circumstance, you will not have a choice of doctor. The facility that will collect your samples will be chosen by the U.S. Embassy in your country.

Where Can I Go to Get a DNA Tests Done?

When performing a paternity test there are several places to have your samples collected. If you using an At-Home Paternity Test kit then your samples can be collected in the comfort of your home or anywhere you deem private.

Does Medicaid cover DNA testing?

Paternity Testing unfortunately is currently not covered by health insurance or Medicaid. But, we do encourage you to contact your insurance to inquire about paternity testing coverage.

In the event, your insurance company does cover Genetic Parentage testing. Parentage testing companies do not accept insurance directly. Patrons will have to pay the out-of-pocket expense and submit the receipt of their Relationship test result to your insurance company for reimbursement.
